METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 August 22, 2019 Arrest Made in a Homicide: Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Thursday, August 22, 2019, on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge. At approximately 2:30 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 62 year-old Robert Bolich, of Alexandria, VA.
