The Department of Homeland Security is grappling with the highest number of migrant arrivals in more than a decade. Decades-old border facilities have become overcrowded with migrant detainees and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is struggling to process arrivals quickly enough to maintain habitable detention spaces. As part of an attempt to expedite the transfer of more easily deportable single adults, DHS has ordered the construction of six ICE tent facilities near to existing CBP stations.
