Patient Care Quality Office .v Vancouver Coastal Health Authority I .- Health 855 West 12*? Avenue Promoting triad/mass. ifLIl-Sii?l?i?g care. Vancouver, 1 Phone: 604675-5846 October 23, 2014 Ms. Alice Zhang Dear Ms. Zhang, Thank you for raising your concern about being temporarily removed from the transplant list. As a result of your concern the Patient Care Quality Office (PCQO) spoke with Dr. Medical Director, Renal Transplant Program at VGH. Dr. reports that all transpiant patients who experience an acute medical or illness are removed from the correSponding tranSplant list until such time the condition is satisfactorily addressed and managed. As you are aware, the Hemodialysis Unit and our consultant Dr. believe you suffer from Delusional Disorder and you have not reached a level of recovery that would be necessary to assure the transplant team that you would be able to constructively participate in the rigorous transplant treatment plans. The PCQO has aiso been informed that when your health improves and you are considered ready to be placed back on the list, your start date remains 2009. In other words. you don?t go to the bottom of the list if you have been placed temporarily on hold. The average wait for a kidney for your btood group is 8-10 years and provided you have a successful recovery from your condition, you should be on track for this time line. We hope our reSponse has satifiactorily addressed your concerns. If you are not satisfied and wish an independent review, you have the option of pursuing your concerns with the Patient Care Quality Review Board at Mailing address: PO Box 9643 Victoria.
